New sports program with significantly reduced rates now available for walk/run events
K&K Insurance now offers a new specialty program designed for groups organizing walk or run events offering rates lower than the standard sports tournaments and events programs. Click here to download an application.
The Walk/Run Event Program provides liability protection for the organization, including employees and volunteers, for liability claims arising out of its operations. Coverage also includes medical payments for participants on an excess basis.
To qualify for the program, events must meet the following criteria:
- Maximum of 10,000 participants
- Events of three days or less
- Total course distance cannot exceed 16 miles
A variety of limits are offered ranging from $1 million per occurrence with a $5 million aggregate up to $5 million per occurrence with a $5 million aggregate. Rates are based on whether the event is a non-competitive charity walk/run or a competitive (timed) walk or run event. The minimum premium for non-competitive events is $150; the minimum for competitive events is $300. Optional sexual abuse and molestation coverage and ancillary event coverage is also available through this program. Coverage is offered on an admitted basis and provided through an insurance carrier rated "A+" (Superior) by A.M. Best Company.
Helpful Resources for Preventing Sexual Abuse
Organizations that work with children must always keep the safety of participants as their highest priority; it is vital that youth-serving organizations create an environment where sexual abuse is discussed and prevented.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers a variety of helpful publications that can assist your organization in the development of policies and strategies designed to prevent abuse. For more information, visit the CDC's website at:
